As we didn't have all of our passports up to date and Jennifer just needed to get away, we went to the warmest spot we
could find within Canada for spring break - Vancouver. We knew that on vacation away from home, we would spend more quality time together without the distractions of computers, housework, and other normal distractions. And we were right! We just did the touristy things, like the Capelano bridge, the aquarium and driving the sunshine coast.

We knew that on vacation away from home, we would spend more quality time together without the distractions of computers, housework, and other normal distractions. And we were right! We just did the touristy things, like the Capelano bridge, the aquarium and driving the sunshine coast. The hardest part was getting enough sleep as we were all sharing a not-so-big hotel room! But we survived. Now whenever Natania's fantasy play involves travel, it is always to Vancouver, which I think she believes is in another world.
You can't avoid rain on the west coast, but the day we picked for the drive to
Whistler was just perfect as you can see from some of the photos. It was quite striking when we reached that certain altitude when suddenly there was four feet of snow on the side of the roads. We didn't ski, but we did stop at just about every possible viewpoint to take in the scenery. None of the kids had seen the rockies before, and that was quite a treat.

Natania, as usual, was the energy of our time together. She is such a treat to share the world with, and everything is fascinating and new. We all took turns being her tour guide and delighted in hearing her versions of how everything worked. When you're four, it seems that you can explain just about everything!
Although 'restful' is not an adjective we would use to describe our vacation, it was nonetheless an enjoyable "stitch in the family fabric." It is a blessing to have kids who actually like to spend time together and have a blast when they do.
